Oman: Muscat

Hello darlings! My trip to the middle east extended into Oman. It is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the west, Yemen to the southwest and United Arab Emirates to the northwest.

We cruised the gulf of Oman which is a strait that connects the Arabian sea with the Strait of Hormuz and then runs to the Persian Gulf.
We could see Iran while we snorkeled the gulf of Oman as Oman shares a marine border with Iran. The gulf has a high saline content which adds to buoyancy.

We visited a Camel Farmer.
The Bimmah sinkhole, Hawiyat Najm, is a deep natural depression filled with water. It is massive! I am literally the size of an insect when standing at the end of the stairs; looking from above. The locals say that a meteor fell on this spot causing a natural depression and forming a lake. You have to see it to take in it's beauty, as salt water mixes with fresh water giving it a beautiful vibrant turquoise color.
You can also get a free pedicure as it contains doctor fish - the kind you find in natural fish pedicure spa - known to nibble the dead skin on people's feet.
The next picture below isn't mine. It's to give you an idea of the depth of this sink hole when looking in from above. Credit: Hendrik Dacquin

Also enjoyed the beauutiful rock formation and water pool at the Muqal caves.
We couldn't resist jumping in the water pool to cool off while getting a "free pedicure." Yes! Doctor fish were also here.

We had French breakfast this morning....
And had ethnic Omani food for dinner.

Overall, this was an amazing experience. Oman is relatively safe and the people so friendly. Yes I would visit again!

  14. Yours pics are beautiful you have inspired me to travel as well. The big problem could be having your friends traveling with you because of different constraints but you are lucky. Oman is pretty!!(by the way I love the quality of your pictures!!)
